Eckington-BASED Christian fellowship
We are a welcoming and queer-affirming fellowship of friends and neighbors centered on Christian prayer and worship. Our purpose is to create a gentle and meaningful spiritual space for our local community while supporting, welcoming, and sponsoring LGBT+ refugees from abroad.
eckington hall

Eckington Hall is located halfway down Quincy Lane between Union Kitchen at one end and She Loves Me flower shop at the other.

We are welcoming and compelling, affirming and faithful. Friends at Holy Stranger come from diverse backgrounds and traditions, including Anglicans/Episcopalians, Baptists, Roman Catholics, Disciples of Christ, Eastern Orthodox, ex-vangelicals, and more. We honor this rich diversity as part of our shared journey. Many within Holy Stranger are LGBTQ+, while others are not, but what unites us is the belief that our queer siblings are worthy, whole, and deeply beloved—without exception. In this space of prayer, fellowship, and service, we celebrate and affirm every person’s dignity and sacred worth.
After worship and prayer, all are welcome to join us at Lost Generation Brewery for fellowship and conversation, where you can learn more about how Holy Stranger is welcoming, sponsoring, and supporting LGBTQ+ refugees.
Our quiet, contemplative worship follows a loose pattern based on An Order of Worship for the Evening from the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer—a service that is both inclusive and deeply rooted in ancient liturgy.
Holy Strangers In Our Midst
together we sponsor, welcome, and support LGBTQ+ refugees
At Holy Stranger, we believe in the sacred call to welcome the stranger and extend radical hospitality. Together, we sponsor, welcome, and support the local resettlement of LGBTQ+ refugees in DC. Rooted in our faith and strengthened by our diverse community, we journey alongside queer refugees from abroad—such as those from the Gorom Refugee Camp in South Sudan—working to bring them to safety and new beginnings here. Whether through prayer, fellowship, or hands-on support, we invite you to join us in this meaningful work, embracing those in need with open hearts and open arms.
